Our client is seeking an experienced and relationship-driven Managing Director to lead wealth management operations within an assigned market. This executive leadership role is responsible for driving business growth, managing a high-performing team, delivering exceptional client service, and contributing to the strategic direction of the organization.
The ideal candidate is a proven leader with extensive wealth management experience, a strong business development background, and the ability to build lasting relationships with clients, Centers of Influence (COIs), and internal partners. This individual will oversee market performance while ensuring clients receive comprehensive wealth management solutions, including investment management, trust and estate services, and financial planning.
Responsibilities
- Lead all wealth management operations within the assigned market, ensuring clients receive comprehensive financial planning, investment management, trust, and estate planning services.
- Develop and execute market growth strategies that expand client relationships, increase profitability, and strengthen the organization's presence within the region.
- Build and cultivate strategic referral relationships with Centers of Influence (COIs), including attorneys, accountants, and other professional advisors.
- Partner with leaders across the organization to deliver integrated financial solutions that address the full spectrum of client needs.
- Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance management for Wealth Advisors and other team members while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Establish market goals, execute strategic initiatives, and monitor progress to achieve business objectives.
- Oversee financial performance by monitoring revenue, expenses, profitability, and overall market performance.
- Ensure compliance with fiduciary standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies while maintaining strong operational controls.
- Stay informed on legislative and industry changes impacting wealth management and proactively adapt business practices as needed.
- Participate in senior leadership discussions involving organizational strategy, policy development, and long-term business planning.
- Champion an exceptional client experience while identifying opportunities to improve service delivery, operational efficiency, and team effectiveness.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA, CFP®, CTFA, CFA, or other advanced degree or professional designation preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in wealth management, private banking, trust services, investment management, or financial services.
- Demonstrated success leading business development initiatives, growing market share, and cultivating new client relationships.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong referral networks with Centers of Influence (COIs), including attorneys, accountants, and other professional advisors.
- Comprehensive knowledge of wealth management principles, fiduciary standards, investment strategies, trust and estate planning, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Experience managing P&L, market performance, or business unit profitability preferred.
- Strong leadership experience with a track record of coaching, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
- Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills with the ability to influence clients, colleagues, and executive leadership.
- Strategic thinker with demonstrated success developing and executing long-term business plans.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple business lines to deliver comprehensive client solutions.
